The olive trees of Occhiolino are not very young. Since the Gargano, they did not wait for me to grow their olives. In fact, our trees are three hundred years old! But the oil produced from their olives has only been called Occhiolino for 3 months!
In this new article, I'm going to tell you the story of the creation of Occhiolino, but to do so, I'm going to start with a bit of my history.
A few years ago, my family became the owners of a plot of olive trees in a village in Puglia, Italy, called Vico del Gargano. On this plot of land, about 220 trees are planted. We harvest their fruits to extract the oil. Part of this production was used to satisfy the family consumption.
Recently, I decided to regain control over the entire production in order to upgrade this product by keeping it intact - a pure olive juice that will not undergo any further manipulation. And therefore in November 2019 Occhiolino was born, a completely Italian olive oil, truly extra virgin, totally natural and insanely good.
Occhiolino, comes from the Italian word occhio (eye in French) and means "wink". With this translation, I present you the symbol of the brand, the symbol of the approach I follow: to ensure transparency in production in order to offer you a product of superior quality. The quality and prestige of extra virgin olive oil have suffered from the actions of big supermarkets that seek to offer the lowest prices. These practices have allowed the multinationals to popularize olive oil and have contributed to produce an oil without taste or nutritional interest. Occhiolino is just the opposite: we focus on taste, origin and production method, we make sure of the chemical and nutritional composition and we offer a fair and correct price.
